Providence Weather and Climate

The city of Providence has a pleasant climate that attracts plenty of tourists across the world. It is known for a combination of humid continental and subtropical climates. The summers are warm due to the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, but the winters can be very cold.

With an average temperature of 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Celsius), July is the warmest month of the year. However, January is the coldest month with temperatures dipping to -17 degrees Fahrenheit (-27 degrees Celsius). Such huge variation in temperature is rare in this part of the United States. Precipitation is received throughout the year although it varies a lot between the summer and winter seasons.

The city witnesses heavy snowfall due to strong storms which often becomes blizzard conditions. The city experiences sunshine for an average of 290 hours in the month of July and 147 hours in the month of November. Therefore, late spring and summer are popular times to visit the area. Precipitation is generally less during the summer; however, there is occasionally heavy rain and humid conditions.
