Indianapolis Libraries

The earliest library in the city of Indianapolis was setup in the year 1823. However, the formation of the Indianapolis Library Association in 1869 provided the real impetus and led to setting up of many more libraries. Today, almost each and every educational institution in the city has its own well stocked library. Further, there are numerous public libraries that are open to members of the general public without any restriction.

The library community in the state has set up a state wide network which permits libraries to pool in resources providing better services to citizens of Indianapolis.
