New York and it's surrounding areas, also known as the Tri State area is controlled by several government entities. The New York area is predominantly Democratic and run by Mayor Bloomberg along with senators. New York has a well known police department to control the diverse population of the city and a extensive network of public transportation system operated by the Port Authority. Businesses and infrastructure developments are controlled by the local and state government. Culture and history make up a large percentage of the area. The state department continues to maintain highly developed tourism and promote the city.
