Minneapolis Demographics and Statistics

Minneapolis is the largest city in the state of Minnesota. The population of Minneapolis was 385.378, as per the 2010 census. The majority of the population was made by the non-Hispanic Whites, which were about 70.2% followed by 17.4% of African Americans, American Indians are a minority at 1.7%, while Asians make up 5% and the rest belonged to other races. 

The Minneapolis Saint Paul metropolitan area has doubled in population since 1950 and now has approximately about 3.5 million residents including the suburbs. According to the 2010 census, 7.3 % of the population was under 5 years, 9.7% of them were aged between 20 and 25, 14% were around 45 to 54 and 3.7% was aged above 60 years. There were a total of about 155,555 households among which 45% were families and 56% were non families. Out of the family households, 22% had children aged under 18 and 30% were married couples. Non family households had 42.7% of a householder living alone and 7.4% consisted of a single householder aged 65 and over.
