Seattle is a thriving business communities. In fact, Bellevue is the 6th wealthiest of 522 communities in Washington State and was rated as the number 1 best places to live and launch a business in 2008 by CNNMoney's list. Both small and large businesses headquarters can be found in Bellevue with many of the businesses being technology companies from the 1990s. Aside from the technology companies the city also thrives in several of their commercial districts which include three major shopping centers.
Seattle and Tacoma are also home to several large companies as well as international companies which include Simpson Lumber Company and True Blue Inc. Tacoma's city's refining company, the U.S Oil and Refining, refines 39,000 barrels of petroleum daily.
