Richmond Demographics and Statistics
According to the 2010 Census, the population of Richmond is shown to be 204,214. This is a 3.2 percent increase from the last census conducted in 2000. In the American Community Survey conducted by the US Census Bureau in 2005-2007, it shows that more than half the population was African American and almost 42 percent were White Americans.
Less than a quarter of the households had a child under the age of 18 years and slightly more than 13 percent households had an elderly member in the family. The median income of the households was estimated to be $31,121. Eighty percent of the people in the city have a high school diploma.
