Philadelphia Demographics and Statistics

Philadelphia is one of the few cities in United States that has an interesting mixture of races that make the city culturally rich. It is one of the few cities that has an almost equal ration of African American and Whites. According to the 2010 Census Redistricting Data there are more than 43 percent of African American and 45 percent of White. There are more than 500,000 immigrants in Philadelphia metropolitan area. Other races that hold a significant part in the population are the Hispanic and Latino at 8 percent, Native American at 0.3 percent, Asian at 5 percent, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander at 0.1 percent.

The city's population has always been high on young population which is required for the high number of organizations and businesses. There is more than 25 percent of the population under the age of 18, giving a huge youth workforce and club going population. The average household size of families is at 3.22 and the household size was at 2.48. The per capita income of the city was at $16,509 according to 2010 estimates.
