San Francisco Recreation and Activities

The large network of parks and beaches San Francisco features offers opportunity for recreation. Most of these sites are managed by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This system receives about 13 million visitors each year and offers the maximum attraction to tourists.

One of the most notable attractions of this system is the Ocean Park that runs along the Pacific Ocean shoreline. This place is specially known as being a favorite of the surfing community. Other areas that the system manages include Baker Beach, Crissy Field, Fort Funston, Lands End, Fort Mason, and Alcatraz.

There are more than 200 parks in the city. These are managed by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department. The largest and the most popular park is the Golden Gate Park that covers a large area from the center of the city to the Pacific Ocean. This park has been created to include the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden and San Francisco Botanical Garden.

San Francisco provides a wide range of recreational activities for people with varying interests. San Francisco has a large number of Parks and Beaches providing ample opportunities for the people to have fun and relax. Some of the well known recreational activities include golfing, sailing, wind surfing, kite surfing and boating at the san Francisco Bay.

Professional Sports like National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball are some of the star attractions, especially with the home team in competition has a huge fan following.  Some of the other outdoor activities include hiking, biking along the 200 miles of bicycle paths and lanes across the region.

The famous cable cars of San Francisco are moving historical landmarks of the city servicing a ten mile route in the middle of the city. There are various architectural wonders as well along with the museums and theaters which are worth visiting.
