Louisville Events

Louisville hosts many great events. The Kentucky Derby starts on the first Saturday of May and lasts for up to 2 weeks. Exciting events include the  Thunder Over Louisville with an unparalleled show of fireworks continues with the Pegasus Parade, the great Steamboat Race, the Balloon Race and a marathon.

Late in February or early March the Humana Festival of new American Plays attracts visitors from all over the area. The event takes place at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. A festival that lasts for 6 weeks showcasing various American plays that have been produced throughout the year.

The largest annual Beatles Festival takes place on Memorial Day lasts for about 5 days on the Belvedere in downtown Louisville. Fans come from all over the world to take part.

The Summer season draws other festivals like the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in July, the gay pride parade and the Lebowski Festival in July and the Kentucky State Fair in August. Come September and people can enjoy the Bluegrass Balloon Festival and the Bourbon Festival on Bardstown Road. The St. James Court Art Show takes place in October in Old Louisville.
