Philadelphia is a city with very efficient government machinery at the local, state and federal levels since a very long time. The City Council of Philadelphia with its 10 elected Council members is responsible for passing ordinances such as bills. The bill before enactment is referred by the Council President in front of a standing committee of the Council considered at public hearing, meeting with the report made available to the public. City Council influences a wide range of public affairs of the city. There are various government agencies that are responsible for overseeing various aspects of the city of Philadelphia and maintaining the overall well beings of the citizens.
